A little behind on our updates for June -- it was a crazy fun month full of family and travel. At the beginning of June, we set out on a weekend getaway to Santa Barbara to see Trevor Noah at the Santa Barbara Bowl. We love this venue, arguably one of the best in the state. We take advantage of the opportunity to turn an event like that into a weekend away. We started our culinary tour at Toma's on the waterfront. A favorite of ours. We love their specialty cocktails and seasonal dishes. It's often rated #1 for good reason -- its Italian-inspired Mediterranean handcrafted cuisine. We started with Tuna Cones, which was a surprise treat, of Ahi Sashimi in crisp sesame cones. Always hard for my hubby to pass up the Braised Beef and Pork Ragu Lasagna and I tend to go for the local catch of the day. Our next stop was Chad's for breakfast. Don't let the line deter you -- it moves fast and it was worth the wait. I recommend the mimosa flight! On Saturday, we returned to another favorite stop, Opal, which consistently gets rave reviews for their globally influenced California fare and specialty drinks. Do not pass up the outstanding Warm Seafood Salad. The Pesto Sauteed Bay Scallop Salad and Black Pepper Crusted Ahi Tuna are great starters! We finished with the daily gelato! Lastly, on our way home we stopped for brunch at the newly renovated Mattei's Tavern in Los Olivos. It was bustling on a Sunday morning. Live music, nice garden views and a enjoyable meal made our impromptu stop worth the time! We look forward to going back!
We were also fortunate to get to San Diego in the month of June to see all of our kids together, which is rare. It was great fun. We love Mission Beach and Ocean Beach, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend of weather and family time, celebrating graduations and birthdays and soaking up the sun! Loved eating at World Famous at sunset in Mission Beach and Raglan Public House in Ocean Beach for great beach food and drinks!
